TE at EthCC

TE Academy, founded in 2020 by Angela Kreitenweis, is a community of academic researchers and crypto practitioners dedicated to advancing the field of token engineering: the design, verification, and optimization of cryptoeconomic, token-based systems. This new, emerging field combines computer science, economics, systems engineering, data science, political science, and more.

TE Academy developed and launched the first bachelor-level curriculum in token engineering in 2022.

NFT System of Achievements

Between 2020 and 2024, TE Academy conducted a long-term experiment in building a reputation system that leveraged on-chain proofs. This system incentivized progress in knowledge and achievements, laying the foundation for a crypto-meritocracy. The NFT system engaged more than 5,000 students, issued 1,788 NFTs, and secured over $1 million in funding to advance knowledge as a public good.

This was made possible through the support of TE Academy's partners, whose contributions helped sustain and grow the initiative.

Learn the Fundamentals of Token Engineering:

The token engineering learning materials are available as public goods, now and in the future, and can be accessed below.

TE Fundamentals course overview

TE Fundamentals Module 1

Introduction to Token Engineering – This first module highlights five key articles and papers that have shaped the Token Engineering discipline. Each comes with an introductory video where the authors elaborate on their motivations and provide additional insights.

TE Fundamentals Module 2

Token Engineering Process: Discovery Phase – In Module 2, we introduce the first step in the Token Engineering Process: the Discovery Phase. Here, we begin by collecting requirements and exploring the system we aim to create.

TE Fundamentals Module 3

Token Engineering Process: Design Phase – Module 3 covers the next step in the Token Engineering Process: the Design Phase. We dive into the design considerations for the system based on the discoveries made in the previous phase.

TE Fundamentals Module 4

Token Engineering Process: Deployment Phase – Module 4 introduces the final phase of the Token Engineering Process. We focus on programming a model of the system we’ve designed, which we call the digital twin. If we can validate and verify this model, we’re ready to run simulations.

TE Fundamentals Module 5

Introduction to Governance for Token Engineers – This module provides an introduction to the landscape of token-based governance. We take a multidisciplinary approach to explore key concepts of governance, giving you the framework to analyze and implement Web3 governance systems.
